about

I always wanted to write a 3/4 time Latin jazz tune, and this one just came in one fell swoop in the shower one day. I failed to write it down, lost it, and then heard it again the next day by repeating the shower exactly as it had been the day before. The title hopefully reflects the “hopeful despair” mood of the tune.
